Vampire is a plugin for Google Desktop software, that indexes your TheBat! E-Mail messages.
It is currently in development-release state, that means you are encouraged to test Vampire on your platform with your versions of Windows, TheBat!, Google Desktop, other minor environment libraries, and share your experience with us.
You may also download source codes and improve them, worsen them, use them in study purposes or do whatever else you may think of doing with them.

I suggest two ways of installation: automatic and manual. If you are experienced user, setup Vampire manually. If not - try automatic setup first. If it doesn't work... well, you want to become experienced user, don't you?
If you are updating an older version, see Updating below.
Common steps for both installation methods:
0. | If you are upgrading from earlier (or newer) version of Vampire, please verify, that you do not have TheBat! running. |
1. | Unpack all files in package to some folder you like (Google suggests \Program Files\HadesStudios\Vampire, though you may choose virtually any). If you are upgrading, unpack files to the folder where you've installed older version. If 'Access Denied' errors occur, verify again that TheBat! is not running, close GoogleDesktop and try once more. |
Automatic installation
2. | From the folder you have unpacked files start install.bat file and follow instructions on display. If you have downloaded Self-installation package, it is started automatically after files extraction is complete. |
3. | If everything's fine, follow to step 4. |
4. | Installation is complete, you may use Vampire now (see Usage below) |
Manual installation: | |
2. | Register vampire.dll with regsvr32. Click Start, Run..., type: regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\HadesStudios\Vampire\vampire.dll" and click OK. GoogleDesktop will ask if you want to install the plugin. Say yes. A message should tell "DllRegisterServer() succeeded". |
3. | Install vampiretb.tbp as a plugin into TheBat! Start TheBat!, open menu Options, Preferences..., Plug-Ins. Click Add. Find vampiretb.tbp file. It should be installed as Anti-Spam plugin. |
4. | Installation is complete, you may use Vampire now (see Usage below) |
Verify that TheBat! is not running. Unpack files into the same directory where you have installed older version.
If you have downloaded Self-installation package, press Ctrl-C in the console window that appears automatically after files are unpacked.
The updated version is usable immediately.
Vampire is recognized by TheBat! as anti-spam plugin. Of course it isn't so, but that seems the only reasonable way to make TheBat! feed mail to someone. Vampire will not conflict with another anti-spam/anti-virus plugins. It'll merely tell TheBat! that it could not determine if message is or is not spam.
To index messages Google Desktop must be running. If it is not running, you will receive no error messages, but the message still won't be indexed. So, before message can be indexed, please start Google Desktop.
All messages received by TheBat! (after successful Vampire installation) are automatically indexed (if Google Desktop is running, see above).
If you want to index outgoing message, or index a message received when Google Desktop was not running, you should use the Mark as [not] Junk command. Select your message, then go to menu Specials->Mark as Not Junk. The message will be indexed with no message or other notifications. If you use Mark as Junk instead, Vampire will indifferently index your message, but TheBat! will most likely move your message to Junk folder, that is not always required.
To verify that your mail is indexed, use Browse Timeline feature in Google Desktop.
To search your mail, use Google Desktop.
